John Tyler 3, Pine Tree 2

John Tyler claimed a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Longview Pine Tree Lady Pirates on Friday in a District 16-5A volleyball match at Boulter Middle School.

JT won 21-25, 26-24, 21-25, 25-21 and 15-13.

The Lady Lions improve to 18-9 overall and 3-2 in league play.

Pine Tree won the freshman match (25-19, 25-19) and the JV match (25-14, 25-23).

JT returns to play on Tuesday, traveling to Whitehouse to meet the LadyCats. The varsity game is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. 

MARSHALL — The Whitehouse LadyCats improved to 4-1 in District 16-5A volleyball with a 3-0 victory over Marshall on Friday.

Whitehouse won 25-15, 25-19 and 25-14.

Leaders for Whitehouse (19-13, 4-1) were Briana Brown (11 kills), Ashlee Taylor (5 kills), Hope Casel (5 kills), Ryann Foster (11 assists), Mallory Cole (4 aces) and Kate Idrogo (16 digs).

Whitehouse won both the freshmen (25-20, 25-15) and JV matches (25-21, 23-25, 25-18).

The LadyCats play host to John Tyler on Tuesday at C.L. Nix Wildcat Arena on Tuesday in Whitehouse. The JV/Frosh are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity at 6 p.m.

Mesquite Horn 3, Tyler Lee 2

MESQUITE — Tyler Lee dropped a five-set match to Mesquite Horn (21-25, 16-25, 25-19, 25-20, 13-15) on Friday.

After falling in the first two sets, Lee rallied for two straight wins to force a decisive fifth set.

Bailey Blain led Lee with 18 kills, and Semira Udosen had 12 kills.

Hannah Smitherman and Udosen had three blocks each. Anna Stone had 20 assists. Aliyah Shirley dished out 18 assists, and Annie Thompson added 14 assists. Thompson also had 39 digs, and Blain and Macy Behm had 19 digs each. Shirley added five aces.

Lee (20-12, 2-2) will play at Mesquite on Tuesday.

BROWNSBORO — The Brownsboro Bearettes opened District 13-4A volleyball play with a 3-0 victory over the Athens Lady Hornets on Friday.

Brownsboro (14-12, 1-0) won 25-16, 25-15 and 25-15.

Standouts for the Bearettes were: Natalie Gibbons (4 aces, 7 assists, 5 digs); Allie Cooper (5 kills, 2 blocks); Maci Felts (16 digs, 4 kills, 1 ace); Christen Downey (3 aces, 6 kills, 1 block); Megan Robertson (4 kills); Kallie Hastings (9 assists 9 digs, 2 kills); Madi Essary (5 assists, 3 digs); Alexis Rumbo (15 digs); Tori Thomison (5 digs, 1 ace) and Rebecca Cawthon (3 digs, 2 kills).

Brownsboro is scheduled to visit Canton on Tuesday.

NEW CHAPEL HILL — The Bullard Lady Panthers scored a 3-1 win over the Chapel Hill Lady Bulldogs on Friday in a District 16-4A volleyball match.

Bullard (18-10, 5-0) won 25-16, 22-25, 25-17, 25-13.

Leaders for the Lady Panthers were Sara McKeethan (16 kills, 5 blocks, 9 digs, 2 aces), Ashlyn Meador (10 kills, 3 blocks), Sarah Lewinski (9 kills, 3 blocks, 6 aces), Keili Richmond (6 kills, 6 digs, 2 aces) and Libby Eitel (39 assists, 5 digs).

The Bullard JV won 25-12, 25-12, while the Bullard frosh also captured the win.

Bullard is scheduled to play host to Tyler Grace Community at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Carlisle 3, Leverett’s Chapel 0

PRICE — The Carlisle Lady Indians scored a 3-0 win over Leverett’s Chapel in a non-district volleyball match on Friday.

Carlisle won 25-16, 25-19 and 25-17.

Standouts for the Lady Indians were: Heather Craig (20 kills, 8 digs, 2 aces); Tori Esters (17, 2 aces) and Emily Pendleton (3 kills, 3 blocks).

Carlisle plays host to San Augustine on Tuesday. Freshmen begin play at 4:30 p.m.

Hawkins 3, Linden-Kildare 1

HAWKINS — The Hawkins Lady Hawks improved to 3-1 in District 20-2A volleyball play with a 3-1 win over Linden-Kildare on Friday.

Hawkins won 25-21, 19-25, 25-19 and 25-18.

Sophomore hitter Logan Jaco led the Lady Hawks’ in kills with 15, while Jaycee Cheshire had seven kills. Lilly Long added 40 assists.

Defensively, Lynli Dacus picked up 10 digs with Long adding eight. Alli Boyd and Harlie Conover both had seven digs each.

Hawkins plays host to Overton on Tuesday. The JV game is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

Alba-Golden 3, Lone Oak 0

LONE OAK — The Alba-Golden scored a 3-0 win over Lone Oak on Friday in a District 12-3A volleyball match.

The Lady Panthers won 26-24, 25-21 and 25-15.

A-G captain Ginny Carson and Kalli Wright paced the Lady Panthers to win. Carson led the team with 17 kills, 11 digs, two aces and three assists.

Other standouts for the Lady Panthers were Ann Marie (15 digs), Madi Bryant (3 kills, 5 digs), Hope Wiley (3 kills, 5 digs), Lauren Crump (5 kills), Macie Pendergrass (3 blocks) and Bralee Littlejohn (18 assists).
