Former University of North Florida standout and current assistant coach Jordan Batchelor will be among a large group of past and present UNF players in the field for Sunday's U.S. Open local qualifier at the Plantation at Ponte Vedra.

The U.S. Open qualifier on Sunday at the Plantation at Ponte Vedra will be top-heavy with amateurs, including the top ones from the First Coast.

Of the 84 players currently registered for the 18-hole event, 45 of them are amateurs – 54 percent of the total.

The professionals with the most experience in the field are The Yards head pro Mike Miles, who has twice held a PGA Tour card, Flagler College coach Santiago Cavanagh, a past North Florida PGA Section champion, and Aron Price of Ponte Vedra Beach, a former Korn Ferry Tour member.

Leading the amateurs is ASUN player of the year Nick Gabrelcik of the University of North Florida, six of his teammates, Davis Lee, Nick Infanti, Cody Carroll, Grant Sutliff, Robbie Higgns and Michael Saccente, and their assistant coach, Jordan Batchelor.
