Alabama has offered the son of a famous fighter. West Palm Beach (Fla.) Cardinal Newman 2025 quarterback Davi Belfort announced late Monday night that he picked up scholarship offer from Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide after attending a camp in Tuscaloosa. Belfort is the oldest child of mixed martial arts legend Vitor Belfort

“I was really shocked really just because you know ‘Bama is like my dream school,” the younger Belfort told 247Sports when reached by phone. “I have been watching them growing up. They are a powerhouse.”

Belfort threw for Saban and offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien early in the morning before returning in the afternoon for another workout.

“[Coach Saban] was telling me that he doesn’t usually offer young kids like me, but he said that I just caught his attention and that he loved the way that I threw the ball,” Belfort explained. “He said he just loved the way that I carried myself and that he’s definitely going to be watching some of my games in high school. He obviously wants to see how I play and develop in high school.

“We talked for about 5 to 10 minutes,” Belfort added. “It was a really good conversation. It was amazing to be in the same room as Nick Saban. Literally the G.O.A.T in college football. One of the best to do it. Who knows, maybe one day I will be playing for him.”

Belfort has been a regular on both the camp and 7-on-7 circuit this offseason and has impressed the team of analysts at 247Sports numerous times.

While Belfort has yet to take a snap at the varsity level, he also reports early offers from both Arizona State and Florida Atlantic. More tenders could be on the way as the offensive staffs at both FSU and Miami are hoping to get Belfort out to one of their camps by the end of the month. Penn State and Texas have expressed some interest, as well.

There have been a number of quarterback profile with famous fathers and uncles in recent years like Arch Manning, but Beflort is believed to be the first Power 5 recruit with direct ties to MMA since former Notre Dame safety Nicco Fertitta, who was the son of former UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta.

Belfort announced back in March that he will play his freshman season at Cardinal Newman. The 3A school will be under the direction of Jack Daniels, who is a legend in the South Florida football community and has coached over 20 NFL players throughout the course of his career including Miami Dolphins quarterback Jacoby Brissett.
