Cyber Monday at Cyclingnews
While taking your phone with you on rides is always a good idea in case of an emergency or an unfixable maintenance problem, nowadays there is a multitude of uses for your phone in a specific cycling sense. While some are becoming waterproof, wrapping it in something to protect it from sweat or sudden downpours is also wise, see Adidas Cases for a good selection.
The cycling-specific apps available to us today include using the LiveTrack function in the Garmin Connect app, which uses your phone to let loved ones know exactly where you are on your ride, or running the Strava app to keep on top of all your training.
You might also want to download Zwift and use your phone as a pocket-sized portal into the world of Watopia. Alternatively, download Zwift’s Companion app and turn your phone into what is effectively a remote control and, among other functions, give other riders on your virtual ride that all-important ‘ride-on’.
Of course, plain, old-fashioned music through your wireless headphones, such as these JBL Endurance RUNBT sweatproof headphones at 42% off, is also a great way to fend off boredom on the turbo trainer. Stick with Amazon for those tunes, too, with a four-month Amazon Music subscription for just 99p.
